The Normnot Series(1 of 2): What is NORMNOT?

The Normnot Series: What is Normnot?

The idea of Normnot came to be because of two life changing verses from the Bible. Matthew 10:33 (KJV) says, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Romans 12:2 (KJV) reads, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So with this in mind, we asked ourselves a few questions: Have we obeyed Matthew 10:33 and Romans 12:2? If so, how do we identify ourselves as standing with Jesus? What are the things of this world in which we are not to conform? And are there others that feel the same as we do?

Since we are looking at this world through a spiritual lens, it leads us to the one question that has sent us on mission and started this company: What is normal in the world? The initial thought is this; we know that the world’s view of “normal” isn’t exactly what is righteous or “normal” through the lens of Jesus. So, if we are able to learn and follow the teachings of Jesus, then, we are able to identify what the world’s view of normal. In turn, we can identify the situations in which we should not conform.

According to the dictionary, the definition of normal is conforming to a standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural. Who sets the standard or what is usually regular or natural?  Perhaps, the answer is the majority of the population?  If you decide to follow the population for what is usual or typical, you could be identified as normal.

So in retrospect, being “normal” can be an equation similar to this: Perspective + Population – Uniqueness = Normal. Scripture tells us that Jesus has set the standard and stood against sin.  His teachings are exclusively from God and in many ways are not considered normal. So not being normal can be an equation similar to this: Jesus’ Perspective - Population + Uniqueness = Not Normal or as we call it, NORMNOT!

So, a Normnot is a person who chooses to not conform to this world and will stand up and will boldly claim their faith. So, what do you say?  Are you ready to accept that you just might be a Normnot?!!  Be Unique. Be different. Normnot.
